Tesla China finished September with its strongest monthly wholesale sales of 2026, extending its growth streak as Giga Shanghai continues supplying customers at home and overseas.
According to China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) figures released on Friday, Tesla recorded 95,366 Shanghai-built Model 3 and Model Y sales last month. That was up 5% from 90,812 a year earlier, marking the eleventh consecutive month of year-over-year growth.
The total is a wholesale figure and includes vehicles destined for China and elsewhere, including Canada, Europe, Australia and other Asia-Pacific markets.Â
September also improved on August’s 86,166 vehicles by 10.7%, beating July’s previous yearly high of 93,579. Through the first nine months, Tesla China’s wholesale volume reached 743,060 vehicles, an increase of 22.54% compared with the same period in 2025.

As we reported last month, Shanghai exports had already more than doubled through August, helping offset weaker deliveries within China. That shift has made the factory increasingly important to Tesla’s international supply, with exports representing just over half its wholesale volume through August.
September continued that trend. Exports rose 58.3% year-over-year to 30,529 vehicles, while domestic deliveries declined 9.4% to 64,837. For the full third quarter, Shanghai wholesale sales reached a record 275,111 vehicles, up 13.7% from last year.

Part of Giga Shanghai’s success is thanks to Canada, as Tesla now sources Canada’s Model 3 lineup from Shanghai. Recently, delivery estimates for the Model 3 were stretching into December 2026 and January 2027, but after the upgrades announced last night, some variants no longer even have an estimated delivery date.
