First V3 Tesla Supercharger on Vancouver Island now open in Nanaimo [British Columbia]

Tesla owners on Vancouver Island finally have another Supercharger, and their first V3 Supercharger, as the new station in Nanaimo is now open.

Vancouver Island has one of the highest concentrations of Tesla owners per capita in North America. Despite this the island had only two Supercharger, a 72kW Urban Supercharger (16 stalls) in Victoria and a 150kW V2 Supercharger (12 stalls) in Nanaimo. Tesla’s map of upcoming Supercharger locations didn’t list another one coming to the island, but the island’s third Supercharger was discovered under construction earlier this year.

The new Supercharger is also located in Nanaimo in the parking lot of the Country Club Mall (3200 N Island Hwy), and after months of sitting complete waiting for a final connection to the grid, the station was finally powered up on Wednesday.

The station features 12 V3 stalls, making it the first V3 Supercharger on Vancouver Island. It will soon be joined by another 6 stall V3 station in Port Alberni. Construction happened at the same time as Nanaimo, so this station should be energized soon, however it will likely take a few weeks longer due to the recent highway closure into the city.
