Ford’s new midsize electric truck will have an affordable starting price of $28,350 in the United States. When you add in the destination and delivery charges, the new EV truck will come in under $30,000 at $29,945.
The Fathom is the first in a lineup of vehicles that will use the Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform, designed to lower costs and bring next-generation EVs closer to the prices of standard gas-powered vehicles. The UEV uses a 400-volt electrical architecture and a lithium-iron-phosphate battery, which will reduce the overall range and charging speeds we are seeing from other manufacturers.
However, Ford has committed that the new Fathom will have rapid acceleration and should come with both a rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configuration.
For Ford, the Fathom should serve as the EV version of the compact Maverick, with a potential next-generation extended-range truck coming later in 2028 or 2029 to replace the Ford F-150 Lightning.
Ford also confirmed that it will use an assembly line at the Louisville Assembly Plant for the Fathom. Currently, the Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair are built at the facility.
Although we have not seen a reveal of what the truck will look like, Ford has confirmed that it will open pre-orders in early 2027. The current timeline has deliveries starting in Q3 or Q4 2027.
