Lucid is ending the year on a high note by starting deliveries of their Air Pure electric sedan. The Pure is the entry level variant of the Lucid Air lineup, and starts at $108,700 in the US and $147,750 in Canada.
The first deliveries took place on Friday, allowing Lucid to sneak them in with one day to spare and meet their target of starting deliveries before the end of the year. The first deliveries took place at the Lucid Studio in Millbrae, California, where CEO Peter Rawlinson was on hand to congratulate the new owners.

Lucid refers to the Air Pure as the “elemental model.” It is available in both a dual motor All-Wheel Drive and a single motor Rear-Wheel Drive configuration, with the latter not arriving until sometime in 2023.
Despite being the entry level variant, the Air Pure still includes some impressive stats. It can reach 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, and has an EPA-estimated 410 miles (659km) of range for the AWD variant. It can also regain nearly half of that range, 200 miles or 322km, in just 15 minutes.
Visually the biggest difference between the Air Pure and the other Air variants is that it comes with an aluminum roof, instead of the standard glass canopy on all other variants. It also comes standard with 19″ Aero Range wheels, and a “Fathom Blue” blue paint colour that is only available with the Pure.
With these deliveries Lucid has now released a total of five different Air variants, including the Air Dream Edition, Air Grand Touring Performance, Air Grand Touring, Air Touring, and now the Air Pure. They aren’t stopping there, having already introduced the tri-motor Air Sapphire, which is expected to begin deliveries in the first half of 2023.
All eyes will be on Lucid when they publish their Q4 and full year report early next year. The company has struggled to ramp production, and has seen a number of customers cancelling their reservations. These reservations have led to Lucid introducing aggressive sales tactics to try and convince customers not to cancel, even going so far as to offer discounts to get them to complete their order.
Despite only delivering only 1,398 vehicles in Q3 2022, and having 34,000 outstanding reservations at the end of Q3, Lucid is still able to offer some vehicles on their website for immediate delivery.
