Tesla rolls out Halloween Mode with spooky sounds, lights and more [2026.38.3]

Halloween Mode release note

Tesla has started rolling out Halloween Mode, turning last week’s spooky teaser into a software update that gives owners several ways to frighten visitors. Arriving with version 2026.38.3, and as we speculated last week, the update goes beyond a touchscreen makeover, adding interactive lighting, sounds and a remote voice feature.

The ghost costume now becomes an option for the car’s on-screen avatar. Owners can also enable Trick or Treat, which plays spooky sounds and flickers the vehicle’s lights when visitors approach, making it a potential addition to driveway Halloween displays.

The animations have also been updated to have the ghost costume move when you open the door in Halloween mode, with a skeleton walking by in the background.

The Halloween additions go beyond just the vehicle avatar and animations. Tesla has also included a new Halloween light show, themed vehicle wraps, a lock sound and a spooky Photobooth experience. Another feature lets owners speak remotely through the Tesla app, with the car delivering their words in a creepy voice of its own.

Which Tesla vehicles get Halloween Mode?

According to the release notes, Halloween Mode is available across Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y and Cybertruck, with no hardware restriction noted for the core package. The major limitation appears to only be the enhanced 3D parked scene, which as we know requires AMD Ryzen infotainment hardware.

For owners of Intel vehicles, you will still receive the core Halloween features – ghost costume, Trick or Treat sounds/lights, light show, wraps, Photobooth, and remote app voice.

Emergency Drive Away and Powershare also arrive in 2026.38.3

There are practical additions alongside the Halloween features. Version 2026.38.3 also includes Emergency Drive Away, allowing drivers to leave a Supercharger while still plugged in during an emergency.

Earlier today Tesla also announced Powershare is expanding to Model 3 and Model Y (and adding V2L), and this update enables that feature on newly built vehicles.
