Another major airline is joining the growing list of carriers adopting Starlink, with Frontier Airlines announcing plans to begin offering SpaceX’s satellite internet service on its aircraft starting in early 2027.
The Denver-based airline says the first Starlink-equipped aircraft is expected to enter service next year, making Frontier the first U.S. airline to offer passengers access to Starlink through a new connectivity system managed directly by SpaceX.
The rollout extends well beyond Frontier’s own fleet. As part of the Indigo Partners airline group, Starlink will eventually be installed on more than 1,000 aircraft operated by Frontier, Wizz Air, Volaris, JetSMART, and Cebu Pacific, making it one of the largest commitments to next-generation in-flight connectivity announced to date.
The benefits won’t be limited to passengers. Frontier says Starlink will also improve communication for pilots, flight attendants, maintenance crews, and ground operations through gate-to-gate connectivity, helping streamline airline operations and customer service.
“Starlink will provide our portfolio airlines with reliable, high-speed connectivity, further enhancing the customer experience of flying on Wizz, Frontier, Volaris, JetSMART and Cebu,” said Bill Franke, Managing Partner of Indigo Partners.
With today’s announcement, nearly 50 airlines around the world have adopted Starlink for in-flight connectivity.
