Tesla has marked the opening of its 150th Supercharger location in Japan with a new partnership that could make charging even more convenient for EV owners.
Tesla has joined forces with 7-Eleven Japan to begin installing Superchargers at the country’s largest convenience store chain. The 150th Supercharger site in Japan was also the first of this new partnership, which opened on July 11 at the 7-Eleven Kawasaki Shimokodanaka East store in Kanagawa Prefecture.
The site features four V3 Supercharger stalls capable of delivering up to 250 kW and is available to drivers 24 hours a day.
The opening is notable because it makes 7-Eleven only the second convenience store chain in Japan to host Tesla Superchargers. FamilyMart became the first in 2023, and Tesla’s latest partnership significantly expands the potential footprint of its charging network thanks to 7-Eleven’s extensive nationwide presence.
This won’t be a one-off deployment either. 7-Eleven Japan says it intends to install Tesla Superchargers at approximately 10 additional stores before the end of its 2026 fiscal year, with priority given to locations that offer larger parking lots.
The partnership reflects a broader trend of retailers becoming part of EV charging infrastructure. Convenience stores are particularly well suited to fast charging, offering drivers a place to spend the 15 to 30 minutes typically required for a charging session while remaining open around the clock.
