First look at Lucid’s new Vancouver Studio and the first Lucid Air in Canada

This morning Lucid Motors announced Canadian pricing for the upcoming Lucid Air luxury electric sedan. The announcement was made to coincide with the opening of their first international retail location in Vancouver, B.C. on Saturday, October 16.

Ahead of the opening, Lucid invited Drive Tesla for an exclusive first look at the Studio experience, as well as to see the first Lucid Air to make its way north of the border.

From the moment you step in to the Lucid Studio, you immediately get a sense for the quality and thoughtfulness that went into the design of not only the Studio, but also the vehicle.

Since the company has only just started production a little over two weeks ago, there is only one-production Lucid Air Grand Touring on display.

This Air GT is finished in Infinite Black with the Tahoe interior. To be expected with a pre-production vehicle, there are some fit and finish issues with this car, but the overall quality and attention to detail shines through.

To give reservation holders a sense of the other finishes available, there are five displays which showcase all the different materials included with each option.

There are also six mini Lucid Air cars on display to showcase the different paint colours available. These aren’t cheap displays either, as they are finished in the same automotive paint used on the cars.

If that’s not enough, there is also a virtual reality (VR) experience that puts you inside (or outside) the Air sedan. We tried it out and the quality is impressive, with the ability to set it up with any configuration or choice of options.

The company also shows off their technology with a display of their incredibly small motor design, battery pack, and Wunderbox charging system that allows vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging.

The necessary hardware for those features will be included in all cars, but won’t be available at launch.

The Lucid Studio in Vancouver will host a special opening tonight exclusively for reservation holders. The public will get their first chance to see the Lucid Air in person starting tomorrow after a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:00am until 8:00pm.

It is located in CF Pacific Center on the street level fronting W. Georgia Street.
