The latest Tesla app teardown has revealed several unreleased features currently in development, with the biggest additions focused on Optimus. Version 4.59.0 also includes updates to FSD gifting and new remote display controls, while hinting at Tesla’s continued efforts to expand the app beyond traditional vehicle management.
As with all app teardowns, the presence of code does not guarantee these features will be released, but it does offer an early glimpse at what Tesla is actively developing.
Optimus Home Integration
Probably the most intriguing addition found in the code by Tesla App Updates on X relates to Optimus, Tesla’s humanoid robot. New strings in the app suggest Tesla is preparing support for Optimus operating inside customers’ homes. The code references a consent screen allowing owners to opt into the collection of video and spatial data while the robot is in use.
The feature appears similar to the way Tesla collects real-world driving data from customer vehicles to improve its FSD neural networks. The app also includes references to a dedicated alert system, allowing users to filter between internal system logs and customer-facing notifications, such as low battery warnings or mechanical issues.
While Tesla has not announced when consumer versions of Optimus will become available, these additions suggest the company is already laying the software foundation needed to manage the robot through the Tesla app.
FSD Gifting
The update also includes several hints to FSD gifting. New strings indicate Tesla is addressing scenarios where a recipient already has an active FSD trial. Rather than preventing the gift from being redeemed, the app suggests the purchase will be queued until the trial expires.
The code also indicates that only the vehicle’s primary account owner will be able to redeem an FSD gift, helping ensure gifts cannot be claimed by secondary drivers or other users with access to the vehicle.
This appears to be different than the FSD gift cards you can currently purchase in the U.S., which are simply gift cards for the same value as one month of a subscription.
Remote Display Brightness Controls
Another practical addition is remote display brightness controls. The Tesla app appears set to gain the ability to toggle automatic brightness on the vehicle’s touchscreen or manually adjust brightness with a slider from a smartphone.
While not a headline-grabbing feature, it could prove particularly useful for owners using Camp Mode, watching a drive-in movie, or anyone wanting to dim the screen without climbing back into the vehicle.
More Features in the Pipeline
Beyond these additions, the app teardown references several other features. These include some features that are part of the 2026 Summer Update like custom wrap uploads with live 3D previews and FSD stats.
There is also streamlined enrolment in Virtual Power Plant (VPP) programs for Powerwall owners, smarter location-aware roadside assistance, new Robotaxi controls, and additional assets for Tesla Semi and Tesla Energy products.
