More than a year after construction first began, Tesla is finally just hours away from opening the largest Supercharger station in Canada.
The 44-stall Supercharger in Ajax, Ontario, could open as soon as tomorrow after the site was officially energized on Tuesday, according to information confirmed by Drive Tesla with local officials.
The station, located at Durham Centre near Kingston Road and Harwood Avenue, has been ready for some time, but its opening was delayed due to issues related to utility connections.
Now, the wait is nearly over. A visitor to the site today posted on Reddit and shared that the construction fencing surrounding the Supercharger has been removed, while crews remained on-site completing what appear to be the final electrical connections and commissioning work.
With the utility work complete, the final step rests with Tesla. Once the company completes its internal testing and activates the station in its network, drivers will be able to begin charging immediately.
The Ajax location has attracted significant attention since construction began in May 2025. When it opens, it will become the largest Supercharger station in Canada with 44 stalls, surpassing the current record-holder in Richmond, British Columbia, which features 40 Supercharger stalls.
Its location just minutes from Highway 401 will provide some much-needed capacity to the area, relieving some of the pressure at nearby Pickering and Scarborough. With the large number of stalls, Tesla is clearly expecting it to become one of the busiest charging sites in the country.
