Tesla Model Y’s destined for South Korea arrive at Pier 80 in San Francisco

A fresh batch of Tesla Model Y vehicles were spotted arriving at Pier 80 – Tesla’s exporting pier in San Francisco yesterday.

Twitter user Leon was able to snap a couple of photos of the electric SUVs arriving on a car carrier. The vehicles were outfitted with longer license plate holders like those found in Europe, leading him to believe that was their destination. But a small clue revealed their true port of call.

Vehicles registered in South Korea require an emissions sticker to included on the car. Fortunately this sticker is barely visible on the rear window of one of the black Model Y’s on the car carrier (h/t: Morten Grove).

It was only in February that Tesla opened up the Model Y Design Studio in South Korea, allowing customers to place orders for the Long Range and Performance variants. The Standard Range (SR) was also included at the time, but has since been removed after CEO Elon Musk announced it was being discontinued.

It is unknown how many orders were placed for this variant, or what Tesla plans to do with these orders.

Tesla’s website does not show an expected delivery date for the Model Y in South Korea. When orders opened in February, it was indicating the second half of 2021. It looks like Tesla might even beat that target.

If any of of our readers in South Korea ordered a SR Model Y, let us know in the comments below if your order has been cancelled, or if you’re still being told you will receive your car.
