Tesla first introduced the Model Y to China in January, selling only the Long Range (LR) variant at launch. The lineup was expanded later with the addition of the Standard Range (SR) variant, which has so far proved to be popular as it qualifies for local incentives.
The lineup looks set to expand further to include the Performance variant after one was recently spotted at Giga Shanghai.
A photo shared on Twitter by @JayinShanghai shows a recently built Deep Blue Metallic Model Y on the factory floor. The red calipers and 21’’ Überturbine Wheels are a giveaway that this is a Performance model.

Customers in China have been able to place an order for the top-of-the-line variant since earlier this year. The Design Studio is estimating that deliveries will begin the fourth quarter, and Tesla appears on track to meet that target.
The Model Y Performance starts at ¥387,900 ($75,000 CAD), making it cheaper than the what Canadians can buy the electric SUV for ($83,990 CAD).
