Tesla removes walnut wood interior option for Model S Plaid

Just a few months after deliveries first began, buyers of the Model S Plaid now only have one interior trim finish to select from when optioning out their new car.

In a recent update to the Design Studio, Tesla has removed the ‘Walnut Decor’, aka Wood, trim option from the online configurator. (h/t: @BabyTesla3)

Only the Carbon Fiber option now remains, still at no extra cost to the buyer.

Interestingly, Canadian Model S Plaid buyers have never had the option to select the wood interior. The wood option does live on though in the Long Range (LR) Model S. Walnut Decor is the only interior finish available in that variant.

Although Tesla has provided no information on why the option was removed, a likely guess would be to attribute the change to the ongoing supply chain shortages Tesla and all other automakers are currently facing.

If that is the reason, there is a good chance the wood option will return at some point in the future.
