After a longer than expected wait, Tesla has finally launched the Model 3 Performance. While we already knew almost everything about the Performance, Tesla has officially published the specs and pricing.
While customers can now place orders, deliveries are not expected to begin in Canada until July and May in the US.
One of the biggest pieces of information that we didn’t know about the new Model 3 Performance was the pricing. According to an update to the Design Studio on Tuesday morning, it will start at C$69,990 in Canada and US$52,990 in the United States.
For Canadians, that unfortunately means the Model 3 Performance does not qualify for the $5,000 iZEV rebate since it is priced above the program’s thresholds for passenger cars, which is up to a maximum of C$65,000.
There is better news in the US as it qualifies for the full US$7,500 tax credit, bringing the price down to $45,490 if you’re eligible.
Here are some of the key specs published today by Tesla, confirming the new Model 3 Performance is faster than its predecessor with a sub 3-second 0 to 60mph time.
- Range: 476km/296 miles
- Top Speed: 262kmh/163mph
- 0-100km/h: 3.1s
- 0-60mph: 2.9s
- +22% continuous power, +32% peak power, +16% peak torque compared to previous Model 3 Performance
- 5% reduced drag, 36% lift reduction & 55% improvement in front-to-rear lift balance compared to previous Model 3 Performance.
- Forged & staggered 20″ Warp wheels + Pirelli P Zero 4 tires
A couple of interesting things that have been noticed with the Model 3 Performance is that it appears to have its own unique headlights. As we told you about last week, Tesla says the headlights have a “unique daytime running light design for better visibility” and “an integrated stop sign recognition to enhance road safety.” While we don’t know what exactly this means or how it is implemented, we can see from the online configurator the Performance has different headlights compared to that of the Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range.

Another interesting piece spotted by one of our readers Angelo is that different specs are published for the Model 3 Performance in Canada compared to the US. On the Canadian version of the site it says the Model 3 Performance has 460 horsepower, while on the US version it says “more than combined 500 horsepower,” which Tesla later said on X is 510 horsepower.
We’re not sure if this is a typo or why there would be different specs between the two countries, but we are assuming it is the former as the 0-100km/h and 0-60mph times quoted by Tesla would indicate they have the same amount of power.
While we wait for the first deliveries to begin in the US next month, there are several on display at stores in California, Arizona, and Washington State. Unfortunately there are no units on display in Canada yet.
