Since the Tesla Model S was first introduced in 2012 it has won numerous awards for safety and performance, and is still unmatched by competitors in today’s EV marketplace.
Its latest award though is one you may not think of when you think of an electric vehicle. When you heard the words muscle car, you typically think of throaty, loud (some may call obnoxious), American V8 behemoths like the Pontiac GTO or Dodge Hemi Charger.
But Edmunds has recently released its list of ‘Top 10 Muscle Cars of Today‘ , with the unsuspecting Model S cracking into the top 10.

As Edmunds so aptly put it in selecting Tesla’s flagship sedan for this list – it’s “So. Freaking. Fast.“.
So fast that a recent software update with “Cheetah Stance” allowed a Model S owner in Tulsa, Oklahoma set a new 1/4 record for the electric sedan at 10.452 seconds.
Edmunds said the Model S would have placed even higher on the list if it weren’t for its high price and the fact it doesn’t that throaty engine sound we mentioned earlier.
Other cars to make the top 10 list from Edmunds include the BMW M8, Nissan GT-R, Mercedes Benz AMG E 63S, Audi S8, Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, Lexus RC F, Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody, Chevy Camaro ZL1, Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, with the Ford Shelby GT500 topping the list.
