In its annual Auto Reliability Survey, Consumer Reports has dropped the Ford Mustang Mach-E from its list of recommended vehicles.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E is the only EV to drop off the list.
According to Consumer Reports, the Mustang Mach-E was dropped due to the declining reliability of the vehicle.
Reliability issues include issues with the charging system, electrical system, computer system, axles and complete battery cell failures.
Ford has already released a statement on the loss of their Consumer Reports recommendation:
We listen to all customer feedback, including Consumer Reports and the concerns raised by customers. The survey results were from a population of vehicles early in the launch of these vehicles and those concerns have since been addressed. For Mach-E, we issued a recall for certain 2021 and 2022 vehicles. [We] updated software to prevent any damage to the contractors. In July, we rolled out an OTA (over the air) update [that] included improvements to plug and charge features to increase the successful charger activation rate.
Although the Mustang Mach-E was the only EV to lose its Consumer Reports recommendation, it is not the only vehicle facing this fate.
The Mustang Mach-E is joined by a fellow Ford vehicle, the 2023 Bronco Sport and the following other vehicles:
- Volvo XC60
- Hyundai Kona
- Toyota Tundra
- Hyundai Elantra
- Nissan Sentra
