After less than five months of site preparation and construction progress, the first buildings at Tesla’s Gigafactory Texas have started taking shape.
According to the latest drone flyovers of the site by Jeff Roberts, the first concrete pillar arrived over the weekend, and was raised and set in place shortly thereafter.
In addition to the concrete column, the first steel columns have also been installed at a different area of the massive site, with the roof starting to take shape as well.
Helping to speed up the progress at the newest Gigafactory is the recent change to have 3 crew shifts working 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, as reported by Jeff Roberts, who flies his drone over the site almost daily.
Earlier this year we reported Tesla was planning to have the “first substantial completion” of Giga Texas by May 1, 2021, with the “first dry-in” by next month, December 30, 2020.
With the increased productivity, there is a good chance Giga Texas could beat that timeline and open before Giga Berlin does, which began site preparation several months ahead of crews in the US.
