Giga Texas site plans uncovered in permit application

Tesla’s newest factory in the United States was first announced back in June during the company’s Q2 2020 earnings call.

Work at the site actually began a week before the announcement, and has been continuing at an impressive pace ever since.

While crews worked to clear the site and prepare it for the upcoming construction, Tesla had not revealed any renderings, building plans, or site plans to show what Giga Texas will look like when complete.

Thanks to a keen eyed fan on Reddit, we now have our first look at the site plan for Giga Texas, and shows it will consist of 3 huge buildings on the massive 2,100 acre site.

On the site plan we can easily see the 3 large buildings marked by diagonal hatch lines. To the right of the main buildings is the location of the electric utility building, with parking lots to the north of each.

It was recently revealed through documents posted to the City of Austin website that Tesla aims to have the Gigafactory substantially complete by May 1, 2020. That aligns with CEO Elon Musk stating the first vehicles will be rolling off the production line in mid-2020.

When complete, it will manufacture the Model 3 and Model Y for the eastern half of the US, as well as the Cybertruck and Tesla Semi.
