Polestar has opened Canadian orders for the latest Polestar 4, bringing upgrades, a lower carbon footprint and a new name as the company prepares to expand the lineup with an SUV version.
Previously simply called the Polestar 4, the existing model is now officially the Polestar 4 coupe, helping distinguish it from the more traditional Polestar 4 SUV also headed to Canada that we told you about last week.
Pricing for the updated coupe starts at $67,700, including a $2,800 destination charge, for the single motor version. The dual motor starts at $72,700, while a dual motor with Performance Pack remains at the top of the range.
More Than Just a Name Change
While the new name is the most obvious change, Polestar has also reworked the chassis on both rear motor and dual motor versions.
Changes include higher-capacity passive dampers, revised springs and anti-roll bars, along with polyurethane rebound stops replacing the previous internal rebound coil springs. Polestar says the changes improve ride control, comfort and steering precision.
Performance remains, with the dual motor version accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, making it the quickest SUV in Polestar’s current lineup.
The South Korean-built cars also have a reduced carbon footprint of 19.8 tCO₂e for single motor models and 20.7 tCO₂e for dual motor versions.
Polestar 4 Family Is Growing
The “coupe” designation arrives as Polestar prepares to turn the Polestar 4 into a broader model family.
As we recently reported, a more conventional Polestar 4 SUV is coming to Canada, giving buyers an alternative to the coupe’s distinctive low-roof design. Canada will receive the SUV even though Polestar currently has no plans to offer that version in the U.S.
Canadian pricing for the Polestar 4 SUV has not yet been announced.
