Canada is set to get Polestar’s new Polestar 4 SUV, the more practical sibling of the windowless coupe already on sale here. Meanwhile U.S. buyers are shut out of the 2027 model year after the automaker was banned from selling its cars south of the border.
According to Polestar, the SUV features the same SEA architecture as the coupe, with a straighter roof, a more upright tailgate, and the one thing the original Polestar 4 famously skipped: a rear window. A conventional rear-view mirror is now standard, while the camera-based digital mirror becomes optional.
With that change, second-row headroom grows by 2.5 cm. Cargo is 530 litres and 1,665 litres with the 60/40 rear seats folded. Roof rails are standard and rated for a 100 kg dynamic load.
Both trims use a 100 kWh battery. The rear-wheel drive is 200 kW (272 horsepower), 0–100 km/h in 7.3 seconds, and up to 630 km based on WLTP ratings. The dual-motor AWD is 400 kW (544 horsepower) with a 3.9 second 0-100 km/h time, and up to 600 km WLTP range.
Official NRCan ratings are not out yet.
Plugging the Polestar 4 SUV into a DC fast charger peaks at 200 kW, while an AC onboard can charge at 11 kW. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) will also be available in the Polestar 4 SUV, but not at launch, with the company saying it will arrive “in a future software update.”
Deliveries are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, including in Canada, even though pricing for the Canadian market has not yet been announced.
