The coast-to-coast Full Self-Driving (FSD) challenge across Canada has now crossed the halfway mark, and according to the team behind the drive, the software continues to handle everything Canada’s roads are throwing at it.

After starting Day 2 in Medicine Hat, Alberta, the group made another 1,374 km (854 miles) of progress before stopping for the night in western Ontario. Combined with Day 1, the team has now covered more than 3,300 km using Tesla’s FSD v14.3.3 software without a single disengagement or intervention.

“100% Tesla FSD Canada Coast To Coast Day 2 Update: We made another 854 miles of progress today & are stopped for the night in western Ontario!” David Moss wrote in an update posted Monday night.

“About halfway done with around 1,970 miles to go.”

The second day of the drive may have also delivered one of the biggest tests yet for Tesla’s autonomous driving software.

According to Spencer Scott, the team encountered a construction flagger situation that briefly had everyone in the car expecting the streak to end.

“Our Canadian coast-to-coast autonomous drive nearly met its final boss, a construction flagger,” Scott wrote. “For a few seconds it really felt like this might be the moment our intervention and disengagement free streak came to an end.”

Construction zones and temporary traffic control setups are often considered some of the most difficult scenarios for driver-assistance and autonomous systems because they can involve hand signals, unusual lane shifts, and temporary road layouts that differ from mapped conditions.

The team has already started on day 3 of their journey, which will take them through Ontario and into Quebec. There has also already been another notable moment from early in the day when FSD successfully responded to an approaching ambulance.

The team is documenting the trip through livestreams and updates while fans can also track the vehicle live through a custom tracker on the FSD Database platform.
