Welcome to the world, SpaceXAI. The rebranded xAI and SoaceX announced its new name and logo on an X post as the new name is officially official.
This was not unexpected, as Elon Musk announced in May that xAI would be dissolved, folded into SpaceX, and renamed SpaceXAI.
The move SpaceX to focus on AI is also not a surprise, especially given how much the company is investing in its AI division. In 2025, SpaceX spent $12.7 billion on AI-related capital expenditures, which was three times as much as it spent on the space and Starlink segments.
For SpaceX, AI is a loss leader at the moment, but they believe it has the most revenue potential in the medium and long term. Hence, the company’s focus on AI services, including potentially deploying their AI compute satellite constellation as early as 2028.
The company will have at least some revenue this fiscal year to help fund its lofty ambitions, as both Google and Anthropic are paying top dollar to access SpaceXAI’s Colossus data centres. Anthropic is paying $1.25 billion per month, while Google is paying $920 million per month.
