Tesla’s 2024.38 software update brings enhanced side mirror controls and more

Tesla has released its latest over-the-air (OTA) software update, version 2024.38, and the release notes show this update is focused on providing more customizable controls for the side mirrors.
According to an early preview of the release notes from @TeslaNewswire on X, there are two new features related to the side mirrors.

The first is the introduction of customizable side mirror tilt settings in Reverse, providing drivers with more control over their mirror angles when reversing. Currently when this feature is turned on the side mirrors tilt down to give you a better view of where your tires are going as you reverse. With this new feature you will be able to fine-tune how much their side mirrors tilt when the vehicle is shifted into reverse, offering better visibility based on individual preferences or parking situations.

Additionally, Tesla has added the ability for manual side mirror folding through a new quick control. With this update you can now press and holding the left scroll wheel on the steering wheel, and then scroll down to fold the mirrors without needing to access the touchscreen menu.

Another improvement in this update is “Improved Wi-Fi settings.” Unfortunately, no details are available yet on what exactly has been improved.

One additional feature is also included, but not for owners in North America. As we reported yesterday, Tesla is removing free premium music streaming accounts for Premium Connectivity subscribers. For owners in Europe, Australia, and other locations where Slacker is not available, Tesla is adding the ability to add a free (i.e., non-Premium) Spotify account to your vehicle.

Tesla’s 2024.38 update has only just been released, so over the next week or two we should get more details, and possible more features added as the update gets propagated to the rest of the fleet.
