Tesla is once again delivering a major software update this summer. The company’s 2026 Summer Release is set to begin rolling out soon, introducing a collection of new features that expand Grok’s integration, make navigation more personalized, and add several new convenience tools to both the vehicle and the Tesla mobile app.
While Tesla has yet to publish an exact rollout timeline, the company says the software will begin rolling out shortly.
Greater Grok Integration
One of the biggest additions is a significant expansion of Grok’s in-car capabilities. Beyond answering questions about the vehicle, Tesla’s AI assistant can now perform a much broader range of tasks through voice commands.
Drivers will be able to ask Grok to place phone calls, search for and play music, adjust the cabin climate, open the glovebox, and answer questions about their Tesla without navigating through menus.
Navigation Gets More Personalized
Navigation also receives one of its biggest upgrades in recent memory. Tesla’s Automatic Navigation feature is becoming much more personalized by learning a driver’s routine over time. In addition to automatically suggesting trips to Home, Work, and calendar events, the system can now recommend destinations that are regularly visited, such as a school during the morning commute or a gym after work.
The navigation improvements continue with Preferred Routes, allowing Tesla’s routing engine to prioritize roads and paths the driver frequently chooses instead of always selecting the theoretically fastest option. The goal is to make suggested routes better match real-world driving preferences.
Mobile App Gets New Features
Tesla is also extending several vehicle controls to its mobile app. Owners can now set their desired battery percentage upon arrival before starting a trip remotely – a feature that was previously only available inside the vehicle.
Those with supported vehicles can also upload custom vehicle wraps directly from the Tesla app, eliminating the need to transfer files using a USB drive.
Owners interested in tracking their use of FSD will also find a new section in the mobile app that displays self-driving statistics, with the ability to share those results.
Other Features
Entertainment also receives attention in the 2026 Summer Update. Caraoke now includes a scoring system that rates singing performances while the vehicle is parked, with high scores saved to the driver’s Tesla profile. Rear-seat passengers also gain more freedom thanks to a new Rear Display Lock, which allows back seat passengers to enjoy movies and other content while preventing them from taking control of the rear display settings.
The update rounds out with a number of smaller but useful refinements, including the ability to search for Superchargers by name, queue Apple Music songs directly from search results and artist pages, choose a preferred zoom level for the Self-Driving (FSD) visualization, browser support for camera and microphone access, and new intro animations on the redesigned Model 3 and Model Y.
As with previous major Tesla software releases, deployment is expected to occur in stages, with availability expanding over the coming weeks.
