Tesla Robotaxi expands Austin service to COTA, extends hours to 1 AM ahead of F1 weekend

Tesla has stretched its Robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, to cover Circuit of the Americas (COTA) and run until 1 AM, less than a week after Cybercab rides were extended to midnight in the city.

The change was first shared on X by Sawyer Merritt, just as Austin gets ready to host the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix at the track this weekend.

According to an updated to the Robotaxi mobile app, the updated service area map now includes the area around the racetrack.

Alongside the service area expansion, customers can now request a Robotaxi until 1 AM, an hour later than the previous midnight cut-off, which had only been in place since October 17.

Before that, Robotaxi rides in Austin ended at 11 PM, which is also when Cybercab service wrapped up each night when the two-seat vehicles first joined the fleet.

COTA sits southeast of downtown Austin, and several other X users also posted that the geofence now reaches the track ahead of race weekend.

The Austin update follows a busy week for the program, with Tesla publishing a Robotaxi safety report claiming zero injuries and confirming on its earnings call that the Cybercab is heading to Dallas next month.

Tesla’s Model Y Robotaxis already operate in Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando and Tampa, while the Cybercab is currently only available in Austin.
