New fast charging network launches in Ontario, 43 locations planned by 2020

For Tesla and other EV owners in Ontario, there is a new EV charging player in town, and it has some big names behind it. Ontario’s largest transmission utility company Hydro One, and largest power generator OPG are teaming up to developing a new fast-charging network, dubbed Ivy.

The new fast-charging network aims to have over 100 fast-chargers built and in operation at 43 locations across Ontario by the end of 2020. Based on statistics on the Ivy website, the selected locations will mean that there will be, on average, a fast-charger every 110km.

While their network is still under construction, there is no fee to charge at their only location thus far in Huntsville, Ontario, with two 50kW fast-charging units located at 150 Hanes Rd in Hunstville (in the Swiss Chalet parking lot). No details have been released about the potential cost to charge once their network is built-out.
