Nearly a year after Tesla first launched its Robotaxi app on iOS, the company has finally brought the platform to Android users. For now, the app is only available in the United States and not in Canada..
The app appeared on the Google Play Store on Friday, marking a long-awaited expansion to the world’s largest mobile operating system. Until now, Tesla had left Android users out of its early Robotaxi rollout, choosing to focus on iPhone users when the service debuted in June 2025.
Same features as iOS version
The Android version delivers the same core experience as the iOS app. Screenshots from the listing show a familiar interface where riders can request trips, navigate to pickup points, and track their journey in real time.
Users can also view estimated arrival times, preview routes, manage payments, and check ride history. Tesla designed these features to make booking a driverless ride simple and intuitive.
Not yet available in Canada
Despite the Android launch in the U.S., Canadian users still cannot download the app. Tesla has not confirmed a timeline for Canada, but the iOS rollout may offer a clue.
When Tesla launched the iPhone version, it expanded availability to Canada shortly after the U.S. release. If the company follows a similar approach, the Android app could arrive north of the border within days.

Expansion continues, but slowly
The Android launch comes just one week after Tesla expanded its Robotaxi service beyond Austin into Dallas and Houston. This marks the company’s first geographic expansion in 2026.
Tesla has also started production of the Cybercab, a vehicle designed specifically for autonomous ride-hailing. The company plans for Cybercab to eventually replace the Model Y vehicles currently used in the Robotaxi fleet.
Despite this progress, Tesla continues to take a cautious approach. The company says future expansion will depend heavily on safety validation before scaling the service further, though the company hopes to be operating in a dozen states before the end of the year.
