Tesla is expanding at Giga Berlin once again, announcing plans to increase production and add even more employees at its German factory.
The automaker confirmed on Thursday that production at Giga Berlin will increase by 20% beginning in October, increasing output to approximately 7,500 vehicles per week. To support the higher production rate, Tesla will hire another 1,000 employees, marking the second major hiring announcement for the site in just a few months.
The latest expansion builds on plans unveiled in April, when Tesla said it would add 1,000 workers by the end of June to raise weekly production by around 20%. With the October increase now confirmed, Giga Berlin is set for another step up in output, bringing annual production capacity to roughly 390,000 vehicles if the factory maintains its new pace.
At the start of the year, Tesla said it was preparing to increase production at the factory in 2026, when at the time it was producing around 5,000 vehicles per week, or about 250,000 vehicles annually.
The boost to production and employee count comes after Tesla reported stronger demand for the Model Y in Europe, with the automaker now also exporting Model Y from Giga Berlin to Canada. Tesla has also seen huge boosts to sales in most European markets following a slowdown that affected much of 2025.
The hiring isn’t limited to vehicle assembly. Tesla is also expanding its battery manufacturing operations in Germany. Earlier this year, the company announced plans to add more than 1,500 employees for battery cell production at the site with a $250 million investment.
With all of these announcements, Tesla says it will create approximately 3,500 new jobs in the short and medium term across both vehicle production and battery manufacturing.
