Tesla is ramping up hiring at Giga Berlin as demand for the Model Y rebounds across Europe. The automaker has confirmed plans to add 1,000 new jobs at its only European factory in the near term, increasing the site’s total workforce to roughly 11,700 employees.
The hiring push is tied directly to a planned increase in production of the Model Y, which remains Tesla’s top-selling vehicle globally.
According to the company, recruitment efforts will begin as early as May, with the goal of having the additional staff in place by the end of June. The expanded workforce will support a significant boost in output, with weekly production at the facility expected to climb by around 20% starting in the third quarter of 2026.

The hiring initiative goes beyond just new roles. Tesla also plans to transition approximately 500 temporary workers into permanent positions over the course of the year.
At the same time, Tesla has already begun recruiting several hundred additional employees for battery cell production. The company is preparing to launch in-house cell manufacturing at the facility in the first half of 2027, a step that would deepen vertical integration and reduce reliance on external suppliers.
The latest hiring push also comes amid a sales rebound in Europe after a difficult 2025. While Tesla has previously slowed expansion plans at the site due to market uncertainty, the company now appears to be shifting back into growth mode, even raising prices on the Model Y across the region this week.
