Tesla has started sending out invitations for the Cybercab launch event, with invitations confirming it will take place in Austin, Texas, on September 3.
The invitation also includes some interesting fine print about who can attend.

According to the invitation, Tesla is asking guests to “Join us for our Cybercab Launch Event and experience the future of full autonomy.” Food and refreshments will also be provided, and each attendee can bring one additional guest, commonly referred to as a “plus one.”
Interestingly however, Tesla specifies that the guest cannot be a content creator, seemingly addressing concerns about favouritism when it comes to attending the company’s events.
Additionally, there is one other new section to the fine print, with it stating the event will be restricted to those 21 and older. While there have almost always been age limits at Tesla’s events, this is the most restrictive one we’ve seen.
Invitees have until 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on August 30 to RSVP, after which Tesla will provide additional details to confirmed attendees.

Tesla has been building toward Cybercab launch
The September 3 date comes after Tesla launched a promotion earlier this week, giving riders between August 17 and 23 a chance to attend the event. Tesla says five winners will be selected and notified on August 25.
The timing also lines up closely with reports that Tesla is preparing to introduce Cybercab into its Austin Robotaxi fleet in August, expected to begin with employee rides on public roads after ferrying employees around the Giga Texas complex for the six weeks.
However, while the launch is now just days away, and while Tesla recently received approval to deploy up to 5,000 robotaxis in Las Vegas, we shouldn’t expect a massive deployment of Cybercabs in Austin after September 3. Instead, the company is likely to take a measured approach, launching a few Cybercabs in a geofenced area within the city.
Hopefully the expansion from there is quicker than we have seen with the Model Y Robotaxis in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando, and Tampa.
