Tesla building fourth Supercharger in Merritt with pull-through stalls [British Columbia]

Tesla is building yet another Supercharger station in Merritt, British Columbia. This will be the fourth Supercharger in the small town that has a population of just over 7,000 people, and the first with pull-through stalls.

Tesla currently has three Supercharger stations with a total of 24 charging stalls in Merritt. Most recently 8 new stalls opened in January 2023 at Mary Brown’s Chicken at 3663 De Wolf Way. The two other stations are located on the east side of town less than two hundred meters apart from each other.

Soon a third station will be opening, and it will be located directly in between these two, putting three Supercharger stations within spitting distance of each other.

The new Supercharger is located at 3969 Crawford Ave. This is the Best Western Plus, the same property as one of the other stations, and across the street from another. Despite the close proximity, the site has gone undetected until now.

According to photos shared with us by one of our readers, Glenn, a large portion of the work has already been completed, with the underground utilities and power cabinets already installed. Based on the photos, there will be 16 charging posts as this site, including 5 pull-through stalls in the middle of the parking lot, which will make charging while towing a trailer significantly easier.

The charging posts have not been installed yet, but hopefully they will be the newest V4 charging posts with longer cables for other electric vehicles (EVs).

Tesla does not list Merritt as an upcoming site, so we don’t know when it is scheduled to open. Typically we would say it should be in a month or two based on the level of construction, but there are currently a large number of projects across the province, and Canada, that have been finished for months but have not yet been turned on, so it might be much longer than that.

In a comment to Drive Tesla, the company confirmed seven of those completed sites will open this month, and the majority of the others will open before the end of the year.

This will be the second Supercharger in Canada, and in BC, with dedicated pull-through charging stalls. The other is in Manning Park, which opened earlier this year.
