Rivian to offer factory-direct XPEL PPF packages later this year

Rivian has announced it will soon be adding an option to their online ordering process to allow customers to add paint protection film (PPF) to their new electric vehicle. The automaker has partnered with XPEL to be their exclusive supplier for their new factory-direct PPF option.

According to Rivian, the factory direct PPF option will be available for customers ordering new R1T and R1S vehicles later this year.

XPEL won’t be setting up shop inside Rivian’s Normal manufacturing facility, but will instead operate an installation facility nearby to ensure “installation quality control,” the company said.

“We’re pleased to have this opportunity to bring our proprietary design methodology and state-of-the-art paint protection films to Rivian customers as the exclusive supplier of factory direct PPF for their R1T and R1S vehicles. We are the leader in advanced OEM level PPF solutions and we look forward to leveraging our experience as a tier 1 supplier working with premium automotive brands, to introduce XPEL products to Rivian and their customers,” said Tim Hartt, Vice President – Technical Operations & OEM of XPEL.

Customers will get to choose between two optional PPF packages. The first is a Front Gloss Paint Guard which covers the entire hood, fenders, and mirror caps.

Or you can opt for the Full Body Satin Paint Guard which covers all painted section of the vehicle.

Rivian has not provided pricing for either option, but XPEL has a page on their website which indicates existing packages purchased after delivery cost $1,500 USD for the partial PPF package and $4,500 USD for the full PPF package, so pricing should be similar when ordered directly with your R1T or R1S.
