Poland has accused Russian intelligence services of orchestrating an attack on a Starlink ground station, with two suspects now in custody following a fire that damaged the facility last month.
The incident occurred in September in Wola Krobowska, a village in Poland’s Masovian region near Warsaw. The attack reportedly set fire to the station’s electrical infrastructure, including its power supply and backup generator.
On Monday, October 12, Polish officials confirmed that German police had detained two Turkish nationals suspected of carrying out the attack on behalf of Russian intelligence.
Polish Special Services Minister Tomasz Siemoniak said authorities believe the incident was a deliberate act of sabotage.
“We have no doubt that Russian services are behind this act of sabotage, and it is worth adding that Russian services are increasingly turning to individuals linked to the criminal underworld,” Siemoniak said.
Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński announced the arrests, while Prime Minister Donald Tusk called the incident “another act of hybrid warfare.”
The alleged sabotage also comes amid growing concerns across Europe about Russian-backed attacks on critical infrastructure, including cyberattacks, arson and disruptions to transportation networks.
Russia has consistently denied accusations of involvement in such operations. Polish authorities have not disclosed additional details about the suspects.
