Maserati GranTurismo EV prototype teased in new images

Maserati is planning to enter the world of electrification soon, and has released the first teaser images of the GranTurismo, its first all-electric sports car.

We don’t know much about the Maserati GranTurismo other than the fact the automaker is currently testing a number of prototypes. The cars are being put through both road and closed track testing in a number of different driving conditions “to acquire vital data for the preparation of the final setup.

Ahead of the official launch Maserati has released a few teaser images of the GranTurismo EV.

The heavily camouflaged vehicle features a sleek two-door coupe design with a long sloping hood reminiscent of the current gas-powered car by the same name. The prototype is also sporting aero wheels that look very similar to Tesla’s Model 3 aero wheels.

Keen-eyed observers might also notice what appears to be a chrome exhaust tip in one of the teaser images, suggesting this prototype might still be powered by a gas or hybrid engine.

When the official unveiling will take place is unknown, but it probably won’t happen until sometime in 2022, meaning customers likely won’t be able to order one until at least 2023.
