Tesla Saskatoon grand opening celebration held by local owners

It was a little later than originally planned, but Saskatchewan now has their first official Tesla location with a new store opening in Saskatoon today.

Drive Tesla first reported on the new store in October when the automaker published job postings seeking Sales Advisors in Saskatoon. Soon after we learned Tesla would be taking over the former Maserati dealership on Melville Avenue.

Today, after years of waiting for an official Tesla location in the province, a group of excited owners were helped kick things off with a grand opening celebration.

Braving temperatures hovering around -20°C (-34°C with the windchill), more than 20 owners were on hand for the ribbon burning ceremony. No that’s not a typo, the ribbon was “cut” with The Boring Company’s “Not a Flamethrower”.

Staff at Tesla Saskatoon were also on hand to give owners a tour of the building.

Wasting no time at all, a car carrier arrived shortly after the celebrations ended to unload several Tesla vehicles. Deliveries will reportedly begin tomorrow.

You can check out more from the grand opening below. We’ll update this article with more photos and videos as we receive them, so keep checking back.
