Tesla starts construction on second Supercharger in Madoc [Ontario]

Tesla is expanding its charging footprint in eastern Ontario with the construction of a new Supercharger station in Madoc.

Construction activity at the site was recently shared on Instagram by local contractor jmlelectricinc. While there are no indications this is a Supercharger, they are the contractor used by Tesla to build many of their sites in Ontario, including the still-waiting-to-be-opened 44 stall Supercharger in Ajax.

According to the video, early groundwork is underway, including conduit installation and electrical infrastructure preparations. The Supercharger is located in a new retail development on Bonjour Blvd near the intersection with Highway 7.

This will be the second Supercharger station in Madoc. The existing site opened in December 2022.

The original Madoc Supercharger helped fill a charging gap along the Highway 7 corridor, giving drivers an alternative to the busier Highway 401 route. Since then, Tesla ownership in Ontario has continued to grow rapidly, increasing demand for charging infrastructure in smaller communities and along secondary travel routes.

Interestingly, the new Madoc Supercharger has had a long and complicated history on Tesla’s Find Us map. Since first appearing in October 2024, it then disappeared from the list in December 2024, only to reappear in January 2025. It was then removed again in February 2025, before finally returning to the map in September 2025, highlighting the fluidity of Tesla’s planning process before construction can move forward.

Tesla does not estimate opening dates due to the amount of time it can take to get the final connection to the grid, especially in Ontario, but based on the early stage of construction, drivers will likely still have several months to wait before the new station comes online.
