Lucid Air Dream Edition production increased to 520 units to match EPA range, new colour added

Earlier this month Lucid announced its first electric vehicle (EV), the Air Dream Edition, had set a new record by receiving an EPA estimated range of 520 miles (836km).

To celebrate the milestone achievement, Lucid announced today it is increasing the number of Air Dream Edition vehicles that will be available for purchase, also to 520.

If you were hoping to snag one, you are likely out of luck as the company says they have already started offering the additional units to customers already on the waitlist for one.

Reservations for the Air Dream Edition first opened in September 2020, before selling out six months later in March. At the time only one variant of the Dream Edition was available, but that has since been expanded to two – offering either more range or more performance.

Along with the increased production, Lucid has also added Zenith Red as a colour choice for the Dream Edition models. The company says the new addition was the result of a “wave of customer requests.”

Those customers can now select between Zenith Red, Infinite Black, Stellar White, or the Dream Edition-exclusive Eureka Gold. Regardless of exterior color however, all Dream Editions come with the Santa Monica interior theme.

Lucid has yet to announce when exactly the first deliveries will begin, but is still targeting to have the first cars in the hands of customers later this year.

Lucid fans in Canada should be able to get their first up-close look at the Air very soon. The first Canadian Lucid Studio was planned to open in Vancouver before the end of the month, but construction issues have delayed the opening.
