Hibar Systems, a Canadian battery specialist, purchased by Tesla

Hibar Systems

Tesla now officially has a bit more of Canada in it. Hibar Systems, based in Richmond Hill, Ontario have recently been bought out by Tesla, as reported by Electric Autonomy.

Hibar Systems specializes in battery manufacturing, and is thought to have been bought to work in Tesla’s “secret battery lab” in California.

As production expands worldwide for Tesla, so does the need for battery manufacturing.

This is especially true with the new Gigafactory 3 in China coming online soon, and the expertise of a company like Hibar Systems could be perfectly timed.

Tesla and Hibar Systems have yet to publicly announce the acquisition, or comment on what it means for the company’s future in Canada.
