Greater Sudbury interested in creating dedicated EV charging parking spots

As electric vehicle sales increase at exponential rates year-over-year, Greater Sudbury wants to create dedicated EV parking spots equipped with Level 2 fast charging stations.

There are currently no EV chargers that exist on city property, but a report moving forward next week proposes to change that. The plan calls for parking spots on both public and private lots that would be dedicated for electric vehicles only. The spots would allow EVs to charge for up to the proposed 4 hour limit.

As with any other jurisdiction with public EV chargers, enforcing them to keep ICE vehicles from blocking the chargers is always a difficulty. The plan also calls for a $25 ticket for anyone breaking the new proposed bylaw.

Tesla owners in Sudbury can use the Sudbury Supercharger, located at 2416 Long Lake Rd. You can find this Supercharger, and every other Supercharger in Canada on our Tesla Supercharger map.
