FLO and Co-Op partner for 21 fast charging locations in British Columbia

FLO and Federated Co-operatives Limited announced a new partnership to bring 21 fast charging stations to Co-op and Co-Op Gas Bars in British Columbia.

The partnership will see FLO provide 41 100KW SmartDC fast chargers to create a highway charging corridor in the province. Co-Ops and Co-Op Gas Bars are generally in smaller communities in British Columbia that have limited or no access to other major grocery or gas chains.

This move will allow smaller communities and tourist hot spots like Tofino and Kamloops to enjoy much-needed high-speed charging infrastructure. FLO did not specify whether the fast chargers will feature North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors.

FLO will provide the individual Co-Ops with:

  • The DC fast-chargers
  • Flo software
  • Network operations services
  • FLO performance warranty

In addition, FLO will coordinate site construction, installation and maintenance with local contractors and FLO staff.

The FLO performance warranty includes proactive station monitoring and a priority response time of one business day for any eligible service issues. With the warranty, FLO guarantees that each charging location will achieve a 98% uptime. If the charger does not achieve this, the Co-Op locations will enjoy a 50% refund of the annual warranty fee.

The announcement did not confirm if either FLO or the Co-Ops have secured provincial or federal funding to help cover the installation cost.
