Electrify Canada to offer free charging to VW ID.4 buyers

Volkswagen Canada has revealed buyers of the new all-electric ID.4 SUV will receive free charging from Electrify Canada.

The VW ID.4 began deliveries in the US in March. Those buyers south of the border get get 3-years of free charging at Electrify America stations with their purchase.

In a recent update to the frequently asked questions (FAQs) section of their website, VW Canada says there will be a similar deal north of the border, without specifying for exactly how long.

The offer should come as no surprise as Electrify Canada is partly owned by VW. The German automaker also had a similar deal for the e-Golf last year, where buyers would get two years of unlimited free charging.

One of VWs sister companies also has a deal with Electrify Canada. Buyers of the Audi e-tron get two years of complimentary 30-minute charging sessions on the network.

The ID.4 is targeted to arrive in Canada later this summer, with the first deliveries allocated for B.C, Ontario, and Quebec only. Starting at $44,995, the RWD ID.4 Pro, as well as the more expensive AWD variant ($49,995) both qualify for the $5,000 federal iZEV rebate.

Expect an official announcement from the two companies as the first delivery date nears.
