After nearly a year of utility-related delays, Tesla’s largest Supercharger station in Canada is finally open.
The new 44-stall Supercharger in Ajax, Ontario went live on Wednesday evening, ending a wait that stretched far beyond its originally anticipated opening date. Located at RioCan Durham Centre (40 Kingston Road East), the site features 44 Supercharger stalls capable of delivering up to 325 kW.
The station now officially holds the title of Canada’s largest Supercharger site, surpassing the 40-stall station on the other side of the country in Richmond, British Columbia.
Tesla’s charging rates currently listed for the location show pricing as low as $0.29/kWh during off-peak periods, with rates increasing during peak daytime hours to a max of $0.51/kWh.
The station is also open to non-Tesla EVs equipped with NACS access, with their rates being as high as $0.72/kWh during peak hours.
Construction on the Ajax Supercharger began in May 2025, but despite the site being physically completed a few months later, activation was delayed while awaiting utility connections. Those delays became a growing source of frustration among local Tesla owners as the station sat behind fencing, ready but unusable.
Now that the site is finally online, those frustrations should quickly fade. With 44 stalls available around the clock and a wide range of nearby shopping and dining options, the Ajax Supercharger is expected to become one of the busiest charging locations in Canada, and relieve pressure on the nearby Superchargers in Pickering and Scarborough, which are frequently at capacity.
