The 2027 Nissan Ariya is getting a significant update in Canada for 2027, introducing a refreshed exterior design, improved ride quality, expanded technology features, and native access to Tesla’s Supercharger network through a built-in NACS charging port.
While Canada will be getting the updated 2027 Ariya, it appears as though it won’t be making a comeback in the U.S. as there was no mention of a release south of the border in Nissan’s press materials. The 2026 model year was cancelled in the U.S., with the automaker citing import tariffs as one of the reasons behind the decision.
Native Supercharger Access
One of the most notable changes for Canadian EV buyers is the addition of a native North American Charging Standard (NACS) port. The new fast-charging connector is located on the passenger-side front fender and allows drivers to charge directly at compatible Tesla Supercharger stations without requiring an adapter.
However, Nissan says the Ariya can only charge at speeds up to 130 kW. It does support Plug & Charge functionality, allowing drivers to begin a charging session simply by plugging in after completing a one-time setup through the MyNISSAN app.
The Ariya retains its J1772 connector for Level 2 charging and also features a 7-kW bi-directional onboard charger. On the plus side, selected trims add Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, enabling owners to power external devices directly from the vehicle with up to 1,500 watts of output.
Refreshed exterior inspired by Japanese design
Visually, the 2027 Ariya receives a cleaner front-end treatment with a redesigned body-colour front panel and updated interpretation of Nissan’s V-motion design language. New 19-inch and 20-inch wheel designs have also been added, while Nissan is introducing a new Plasma Green paint colour inspired by natural light phenomena.
Inside, Nissan has reworked the centre console to create up to 3.2 litres of additional storage space and integrated a new 15-watt wireless phone charger.
Google-powered navigation and smarter route planning
The Ariya’s infotainment system has also received a major upgrade. All 2027 models feature the latest version of NissanConnect with Google built-in, providing access to Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play ecosystem directly from the vehicle.
One notable feature for upcoming Ariya owners is Google’s integrated EV route planner, which automatically calculates charging stops based on battery state-of-charge and can pre-condition the battery before arriving at a charging station to optimize charging performance.
Improved comfort and familiar performance
Beyond the technology updates, Nissan says it has revised the suspension tuning to improve ride quality, reduce vibrations, and increase stability during long-distance travel. The Ariya also continues to offer a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features, including Safety Shield 360 and ProPILOT Assist.
Powertrain choices remain familiar. Front-wheel-drive models produce 214 horsepower from a 63-kWh usable battery pack, while dual-motor e-4ORCE variants deliver up to 389 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque from an 87-kWh usable battery.
Range, Price, and Availability
Final range estimates and Canadian pricing have not yet been announced.
The updated Ariya is scheduled to arrive at Canadian dealerships in early fall and represents the most substantial refresh since the electric crossover launched in Canada in 2023.
