Last week Drive Tesla reported exclusively that Track Mode was coming to the Model S Plaid in the final software update of the year – 2021.44.30.
The update arrived later than scheduled, but only to the Model 3 and Model Y, leaving the Plaid without a final holiday gift from Santa Elon.
The good news is that after some additional internal testing that delayed the release, Track Mode has finally arrived today.
Early Tuesday afternoon the update was sent to several Plaid owners, including two of our readers.
Release notes of 2021.44.30 were shared with us by @JbTeslaman, showing the all-new Track Mode as the top feature.
UPDATE: Here are some photos of the all-new interface that is on the dash display, instead of the main screen like it is in the Model 3.
Also some photos of the settings, showing it has ‘Race’ and ‘Drift’, and ‘Snow’ presets, and the ability to adjust handling, stability, regen braking and more.
UPDATE 3:25pm PST: Here is a video walkthrough of Track Mode in the Model S Plaid.
Optimize your Plaid configuration for dynamic driving exclusively on closed courses and experience the unmatched performance at many different venues. To enable, tap Controls > Pedals & Steering > Track Mode.
- Thermals: The heat pump system cools more aggressively, maximizing powertrain endurance and performance. Enable post-drive cooling to shorten wait times between sessions.
- Drive Systems: Torque vectoring authority is increased across the three motors, elevating the vehicle’s agility and cornering capability. The accelerator pedal allows more precise torque control, and regenerative braking power is strengthened to recover more energy.
- Suspension: Adaptive damping reduces vehicle motions, improving handling and promoting driver confidence. Ride height is automatically set to ‘Low’ upon drive off.
- Display: A track-focused interface includes a lap timer, G-meter (real-time accelerometer), vehicle thermals monitor, Dashcam video capture, vehicle telemetry capture and offers customization options.
This is a developing story, check back for updates…
