Tesla is pushing out a lot of updates recently, and the latest release notes show some Supercharging and range improvements for Model S and Model X vehicles.
According to the release notes, peak Supercharger rates have been increased to 225kW. While the notes don’t mention which vehicles this applies to, we assume them to be the Model S and Model X, as we saw the same version yesterday on a Model 3, which did not include this particular item.
Supercharger Improvements
Your car is now able to charge at V3 Superchargers at up to 225kW peak rates. As usual, when you navigate to a Supercharger, your car will condition its battery during the drive, so it can charge faster.
This improvement will still not get the Model S or X to match Tesla’s latest V3 Superchargers, which can charge at up to 250kW. Currently only the premium versions of the Model 3 and the Model Y can reach that level.
In addition to the Supercharger improvements in the software update, which has already had a bug fix update to 2020.24.6.1, there is also a ‘Range Display’ update.
Range Display
Your car will now display a slightly higher range to more accurately reflect the capacity of the battery.
This is likely related to the recent range improvements made to the Model S, which resulted in a new EPA range estimate of 402 miles (647km).
