Early Adopters can now buy Basic Autopilot for reduced price until July 1

Just as Tesla is set to increase the price of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) package on July 1 by $1,000 USD, Elon Musk has announced that the price of the basic Autopilot package is being reduced.

If you purchased your Tesla before April 2019, Tesla’s basic driver-assistant package, Autopilot, was optional. Just before the Autopilot package became standard, it would add an additional $4,000 CAD ($3,000 USD) to the price of your vehicle.

If you bought it after buying your Tesla, it would cost even more at $5,300 CAD ($4,000 USD).

Now those early adopters who purchased their Tesla’s without the basic Autopilot package can get it for a reduced price of $2,700 CAD ($2,000 USD), down from $4,000 CAD, making the jump to the full FSD package a little easier.

This price change is only for a limited time, as it will increase to its regular price on July 1, the same day the FSD package increases in price.

The new price can be seen in your Tesla account online, or in your Tesla mobile app, where you will also receive a message notifying you of the changes.

The discount has been a long time coming for Tesla fans, who have been asking for several months to be able to buy basic Autopilot at a reduced price.

In April, Musk hinted on Twitter in April that a reduced $2,000 price was coming in the next month. May came and went, with no sign of the discounted price.

Then over the weekend, Musk again said the discount would be coming soon, and less than 24 hours later the change was reflected on the Tesla website and in the Tesla mobile app.

Let us know in the comments below if this discount will entice you to buy Autopilot.
