Tesla engineers are constantly looking to test and validate new vehicle updates throughout the year.
So, when it is summer in the northern hemisphere, and they are looking to test some winter features, Tesla goes to the south.
In a new video on the Tesla YouTube channel, Tesla shows off some of the winter testing the company was doing in Wanaka, New Zealand.
The engineers tested the following:
- Model 3
- Model Y
- Model X
- Model S
The team was testing a wide range of things.
This included winter performance testing on all the models, including stopping, starting and overall handling in dynamic winter weather conditions.
The team was also testing a new track mode for the Model Y performance package that makes it easier to drift on snow and ice on purpose.
The setting provides full oversteer, allowing the Tesla to become an excellent drifting option.
Due to Tesla’s ability to over-the-air updates, Tesla engineers back in California could provide a patch or upgrade, and the team in New Zealand could test it and provide real-time data back to California on the changes.
