Tesla has announced its 9,000th Supercharger has gone into operation in mainland China. It is located in Yiyang, Hunan province.
This comes as the Asian nation approaches the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival.

The EV charging team at Tesla China noted the milestone in a post on Weibo. It wrote, “Return home for the Mid-Autumn Festival, and you can set off fully charged.”
Mid-Autumn Festival Holiday is a traditional holiday associated with the moon. Many Chinese families use the opportunity to reunite.
Tesla has one of the most extensive charging station networks in China. It recently opened its 100th Supercharging station in Beijing. Tesla China claimed its Chinese chargers had prevented 650,000 tons of CO2 from polluting the atmosphere in 2022 alone.
With sales nearing 80,000 in August, and more expected in September, Tesla may need even more Superchargers in China.
Tesla has begun opening its chargers to other brands in Europe, but there is no word on when that will happen in China. NIO, a competing brand, has always allowed other brands to use its chargers.
