Tesla will host Giga Fest Austin on April 7th, 2022 [Update]

Tesla fans wanting to get an up close and in-person look at Giga Texas will get their chance very soon.

Elon Musk announced on Twitter this afternoon the Giga Fest Austin will take place on April 1st, 2022, leaving many fans hoping it was not a cruel (and very early) April Fool’s joke.

UPDATE 9:40pm PST: The date has now been updated to April 7.

How to attend Giga Fest Austin

If you are wanting to attend, Musk said the guest list will be by invitation only, but did not provide further details on how they will come up with the guest list, or how many will be allowed to attend.

When Tesla hosted fans in Germany for the Giga Berlin-Brandenburg County Fair last October, a website was set up allowing fans to pre-register for the event.

Due to COVID restrictions at the time, the number of attendees was initially limited to 3,500, but the limit was later increased to 9,000.

What to expect at Giga Fest Austin

Thanks to the Giga Fest in Berlin, we have a good idea of what to expect at Giga Fest Austin.

Perhaps the highlight of the event was the 1 hour long factory tour that gave fans an up close look at the Model Y production process, Giga Berlin Paint Shop, and more.

A number of displays were also set up to show off the structural battery pack and 4680 cells, and how the different pieces of the car come together to make a complete vehicle.

Outside the factory there were Model Y test drives, music, and of course an appearance from Musk himself.
