Ford looks to be issuing a recall on the 2021-22 Ford Mustang Mach E related to concerns over the rear seatbelts.
Ford issued the recall on December 17, and notified dealers in a memo to not show or deliver any new in-stock vehicles involved in the recall.
The recall covers Mach-Es assembled at Ford’s Cuautitlan Stamping and Assembly plant between October 5 and November 18, 2021.
The new Ford Maverick is also impacted, for those vehicles assembled at the Hermosillo plant between October 6 and October 20, 2021.
According to a copy of the memo posted to the MaverickTruckClub forums, Compliance Recall 21C36 involves the rear seat belt anchorages which could be produced with tapping plates with oversized bolt holes.
These oversized bolt holes cause inadequate attachments and potential injury if there is an accident.
The recall is for vehicles on the road, and those on the way to or are in dealerships. Ford issued the recall with a stop-sale and delivery hold.
However, this notice allows dealers to fix any affected vehicles.
Ford expects to release the parts ordering information for dealer service repair at the beginning of January 2022.
However, Ford did not provide the exact number of how many Mach E’s or Maverick’s are part of the recall.
Nor did they release how many vehicles are currently on the road that are part of the recall.
